Band Update

Nominations for the 2024-25 Executive Board are currently being accepted for all positions. Here are the current nominations:

  • Vice President/Operations: Heidi Nielsen

  • Correspondence Secretary: Abby DeBiase (new nomination)
  • Fundraising: vacant

  • Performance Chair: Kevin & Kelly Flood (new nomination)
  • Student Admin: Jon Cassan
  • Recording Secretary: Sabina Vance (new nomination)

The next Band Backers meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 3rd at 7:30 pm at SHS. The room will be determined at a later date. Voting for the 24-25 Executive Board will be held at this meeting

Band Backers meetings are usually the first Wednesday of every month, and can be found on the online calendar on the Home page of https://www.southingtonbkmb.com/

Payments for regular season or winter program dues can be made at any Band Backer meeting. You can also make payments to: Southington Band Backers, PO Box 114, Plantsville, CT 06479. 

Banquet prep is wrapping up! Plaques, pins, and patches are ordered, a special thanks to Dan DellaVecchia for swiftly helping with that!  Printed invitations for the Band Banquet will be available at the Friends and Family Show this Monday, or follow this link to see the information: https://www.southingtonbkmb.com/product/imagine-2023-winter-programs-2024-banquet/ Deadline for the Banquet ticket sales are due April 1, 2024!

We are still seeking new chairpersons for both the Merchandise and MOTK Concessions, and Volunteers for the MOTK Program Guide and Senior Memory Book. Please reach out to Dawn Dickau if you would like to learn more information about these important positions.

Banquet Raffle Baskets: Thanks to all those who have already signed up to donate a themed basket!  We’re still looking for more to make our banquet fun for all, and to benefit the BKMB.   Please take a look at the suggested items and sign up to donate!  Band Banquet Basket Raffle Sign-up Deadline to sign up is April 1st!

Come for Cornhole or just to hang out!  Bring a friend & come make new ones!

New Fundraiser: Gift-Card Calendar!

Now through April 30th, students and families can sell Gift-Card Calendars- this fundraiser has the potential to raise a great amount!

Each Calendar is $10, and entitles the purchaser to one entry. A separate form should be filled out for each calendar sold.

Each entry/name has a chance to win up to 35 prizes (names are drawn each day, and winners are returned to the drawing for subsequent days)

Winners will be notified via phone/email and announced at the end of the week on the BKMB website and on our Facebook page.

Please print as many copies of the calendars / sales sheets / receipt pages as you need. QR codes are on each receipt, so that people can view the calendar on our website (If you don’t want to print individual calendars).

All sales sheets & money (cash/check only) will be collected on Wednesday May 1st, between 5:30 and 6:30 in the front lobby.  No late drop offs will be accepted.

Winter Program Updates

MARCH 25, 2024, 8-9PM – Friend’s & Family Home Show

Have you been to a Winter Programs show…now is your opportunity! It’s not like any other band show you have seen!  Come out to see some great performances, make some noise and cheer on the Winter Percussion, and Winter Guard teams as they prepare for MAC Championships.

Those signed up to set-up should arrive at 7pm to help 

If you’ll be donating beverages/baked goods, please plan to drop off between 7- 8pm.  Contact Meredith Bandish (meredithbandish@gmail.com) if you need to arrange alternate drop-off times.

Winter Guard:

Reminder: We will need a lot of parent help unloading and loading the van, especially at Norwalk.

10:00 am – SHS loading

11:45 am – NHS unloading

4:45 pm – after performance loading

7:00 pm – SHS unloading

The Varsity Guard competed with other exceptional schools from all over the country in the WGI East Power Regional last weekend.  They brought home Fan favorite in the Scholastic A division… way to represent BKMB!!  It was an amazing experience, and they gained so much from being there.
